Dramatic Race at Aragon Circuit

Cooler temperatures helped to alleviate the rear grip issues that both Movistar Yamaha MotoGP riders had during the weekend. This confidence in the dry was short lived as spits of rain began to fall, causing Lorenzo to ease off and briefly settle for third.
From here Lorenzo managed the gap to win by ten seconds ahead of Aleix Espargaro (NGM Forward Yamaha). Not only is this Lorenzo’s first win of 2014, it is also Yamaha’s first ever victory at the Aragon circuit.

Spain MotoGP: Pedrosa 'One of my favourite circuits'

Dani Pedrosa took his first victory of the 2013 MotoGP season at Jerez last year and badly needs a repeat in this weekend's return.

Pedrosa has been eclipsed by Repsol Honda team-mate and undefeated reigning champion Marc Marquez in the opening three events of this year.

But while Marquez has never won at Jerez in any class, Pedrosa has two victories, in 2008 and 2013(pictured), plus a perfect MotoGP podium record dating back to his 2006 MotoGP debut.

“It was a good weekend in Argentina although I would have liked to be in the battle for the victory, but I really enjoyed the race and the track!” said Pedrosa. “Now we have no break, and next weekend we race in Jerez!

“This is one of my favourite circuits on the calendar, I really enjoy seeing all the fans and racing back in Spain after three long races away. As usual we will start working hard from the Friday and hope to continue with the same momentum that we found in Argentina”

Pedrosa is second in the championship but already 19 points behind Marquez.

Spain MotoGP: Marquez: Pedrosa, Lorenzo strong at Jerez

Reigning MotoGP champion Marc Marquez, undefeated so far this season, has never won a home Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez in any class.
That statistic is all the more surprising given that Marquez will be making his 100th grand prix start on Sunday, having won 35 of his present 99 appearances in the 125cc, Moto2 and MotoGP classes.

Marquez has finished runner-up at Jerez on three occasions, including a controversial second place after contact with Jorge Lorenzo at the final turn of last year's event (pictured) won by Repsol Honda team-mate Dani Pedrosa.

“Argentina was only a few days ago but we are already on our way to Spain! We had a really good weekend, taking another important 25 points, but now we go to Jerez where I know Dani and Jorge are very strong,” said Marquez, who has dominated the last two rounds in Texas and Argentina for three wins from three 2014 starts.

“The crowd and ambiance is very special there and it gives you special motivation to perform at your maximum level. After three fly away races it will be nice to arrive back in Europe for a few 'normal' races, I'll try to relax a little and prepare myself ready for Friday's FP1.”

Marquez starts round four with a 19-point lead over Pedrosa.
